Hello
At school, I was ever the arts kid—always painting, writing, sketching. Being biracial meant it suited me—I was too Asian for the white kids and too white for the Asian kids. Art, however, didn’t care about my ethnicity. My refuge. Yet it was polarising. Wanting to deal with objective truths instead, I pivoted to science and shed my religion in favour of atheism.
I studied quantum physics and economics at university but learnt that not everything could be reduced to equations. I then decided to take a break from university by working in tech, which quickly became permanent. As I advanced in my tech consulting career in the private sector, the defence industry and government, I observed how humans and institutions interacted with emerging technologies. I excelled at my job, but something in my life felt hollow—it was because I missed the subjectivity and beauty of art and faith.
I studied many courses and found liberation in writing—I could finally combine my passion for art, science, technology and theology. I found that being in different faith traditions (Japanese new age religion, Evangelical Christianity and Open Baptist) allowed me to explore different perspectives on complex issues.
I love writing, but you can also find me cooking, hosting dinner parties, running, hiking, doing calisthenics or chilling with my pet bird, Kleo.
